Villalba, Asad, and Vázquez score as the Five Stripes close a four-match road run with three points in Utah.
Atlanta United Ends Road Stretch with 3-1 Win at Real Salt Lake

Starting Lineup
Atlanta United ended its four-match road stretch with a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah, getting goals from Tito Villalba, Yamil Asad, and Brandon Vázquez.
The result moved Atlanta to 3-2-2 with 11 points through seven matches. It also sent the Five Stripes home with eight points from five road matches, a strong return for an expansion team still in the first two months of its first season.
1st Half
Tata Martino kept Atlanta in a 4-2-3-1, with Alec Kann in goal, Greg Garza, Leandro González Pírez, Michael Parkhurst, and Tyrone Mears across the back, Carlos Carmona and Jeff Larentowicz in midfield, Miguel Almirón underneath Kenwyne Jones, and Villalba and Asad wide.

Atlanta took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes by forcing the mistake that started the entire sequence. Nick Rimando tried to play out from the back, Atlanta intercepted near midfield, and both Garza and Asad helped slip Almirón towards goal. Rimando saved Almirón’s chance, then stopped Villalba’s first follow-up. Tito stayed with it and finished the second rebound to put Atlanta ahead 1-0.
Kyle Beckerman was booked in the 20th minute. Carmona was booked in the 37th.
Atlanta carried the 1-0 lead to halftime. The difference was Villalba’s persistence in front of goal and Atlanta’s ability to turn one loose RSL pass into the defining sequence of the half.
2nd Half
Atlanta doubled the lead less than a minute after the restart. Almirón took the ball from Chris Wingert, drew Rimando out, and found Asad. With the goalkeeper out of position and a defender scrambling back, Asad kept his finish calm and passed the ball into the open net.

The two-goal cushion did not last. In the 68th minute, Albert Rusnák hit a low shot from the top of the box into the far corner, beating Kann and cutting Atlanta’s lead to 2-1.
After Rusnák’s goal, Atlanta had to protect a one-goal lead. Gressel replaced Villalba in the 77th minute, Kratz came on for Asad in the 89th, and Vázquez entered for Jones in stoppage time.
Vázquez needed only a few minutes to make the debut matter. Gressel played him through behind the RSL defense, and Vázquez finished the chance in the 95th minute for his first MLS goal. The goal sealed the 3-1 win and ended Atlanta’s road stretch with three points.
Closing Thoughts
Atlanta’s four-match road stretch ended with Brandon Vázquez alone in front of goal, finishing off a 3-1 win in stoppage time. It was his MLS debut and his first MLS goal, a late cameo that became the final image of the night. It was an incredible feeling, making my debut in the MLS. It was such an amazing experience, and it's something I'll never forget. Brandon Vázquez, ATLUTD Striker - Post-Game Press Conference
That made the win feel a little different from a standard road result. Atlanta left Utah with three points, eight points from five away matches, and three different scorers in a game that showed how many ways its attack could hurt teams.
