Dunbar scores twice as Atlanta secures third consecutive road win
Atlanta United 2 Defeats Carolina Core FC 2–1 due to a Dunbar Brace

ATLUTD 2's Lineup
Atlanta United 2 built their lead by scoring twice from five shots on target. Those finishes created a two-goal gap from a small number of clear chances. Carolina Core responded by pushing more attacks into the final third. They found shooting positions, but many attempts were blocked before reaching goal, especially late. Atlanta held the lead by stepping into those shots and stopping them before they could test the goalkeeper.
1st Half
Atlanta took control of the match through two attacking sequences that both ended with Cameron Dunbar finishing inside the box. The opening goal came in the 29th minute when Ignacio Suarez-Couri drove down the right side and slipped a pass into Dunbar’s run. Dunbar sprinted ahead of the trailing defender and met the ball first time, placing it low into the far corner. The move began wide and ended before Carolina could fully recover numbers around the ball, leaving the finish uncontested.

Carolina created their clearest chance early in the match when Arnaud Tattevin slipped Ricardo Montenegro through on goal. Montenegro entered the right side of the box one-on-one, but Jonathan Ransom closed the angle and made the save.
Matthew Senanou was shown a yellow card in the 41st minute as Atlanta defended inside their own half.
Atlanta doubled the lead just before halftime. Adrian Gill picked up the ball in the Carolina half and beat his marker with a lofted touch before finding Dominik Chong-Qui advancing down the left. Chong-Qui sent a bouncing cross into the center, where Dunbar took a touch to control it between two defenders and finished with his left.
2nd Half
Carolina pulled a goal back in the 57th minute through Anthony Sumo Jr. He carried the ball into the left side of the box, set it onto his left foot, and curled his shot into the upper corner beyond Jonathan Ransom.

Carolina continued to attack through forward runs and entries into the box. In the 77th minute, Arnaud Tattevin slipped a pass in behind the defense to Khalid Balogun, who ran onto it with space to shoot. Matthew Senanou recovered from behind and poked the ball away just before the attempt, stopping the play inside the penalty area.
Carolina pushed forward again in stoppage time through set-piece delivery into the box. The ball dropped into a crowded area in front of goal, where multiple attempts followed in quick succession. Adrian Gill stepped into two of those shots, blocking one from inside the box and another from a central position outside it before they could reach goal.
Atlanta closed the match by clearing the ball after each of those attempts and holding their line inside the box until the final whistle.
Closing Thoughts
Atlanta United 2 extended their road form with a third consecutive away win, the first time the club has reached that mark while in MLS NEXT Pro. That run has been driven by consistent production in front of goal from Cameron Dunbar, who scored his first brace of the season in this match and now leads the team with four goals. He has scored in three straight matches, giving Atlanta a reliable finisher in the final phase of attacks.
The attacking structure around him continues to produce chances through different players. Ignacio Suarez-Couri recorded his third assist in three starts, showing repeated involvement in chance creation from wide areas. Atlanta also continued to rotate players through the lineup, with Arif Kovac making his 10th appearance for the club, adding to a group that has contributed to multiple attacking sequences.
Those contributions supported a result built on early finishing and late defending, allowing Atlanta to carry their current run forward into the next match.
