A flat team performance before the break
Player Impressions: ATLUTD 0-2 Columbus Crew

Atlanta’s problems ran through the whole team. The back line had too many late reactions, the midfield lost control of the central spaces, and the attack never gave Columbus enough to worry about once the game opened up. There were scattered moments of pressure, a few hopeful forward passes, and some late energy from the bench, but none of it connected into a stable team performance. Even Atlanta’s better late stretches felt more like Columbus taking its foot off the gas than Atlanta actually finding control.

Player Impressions

Lucas Hoyos
Poor night overall. The goals may not have been entirely on him, but he still looked slow reacting and was pulled out of shape late when Columbus broke down the left.

Elías Báez
He was involved a lot, but too much of it was shaky. Defensively he kept getting beaten or arriving late, and going forward his crosses and long shot never really connected with anyone in a useful way.

Juan Berrocal
Best of a bad back line, which is not saying much. Had a few rough defensive moments early, but still looked more stable than the rest of the group around him.

Enea Mihaj
Had a couple of useful clearances and long balls, but the overall performance faded badly. By the end he was chasing plays awkwardly, going to ground too easily, and looking nothing like the player from his better stretch earlier this season.

Tomás Jacob
Started with a few useful forward actions, including the long ball to Brennan and the press that won Atlanta a free kick. After that, the night turned ugly, with bad turnovers, dangerous defending, and nearly another yellow that would have left him suspended.

Luke Brennan
Pressed well a couple of times and nearly got onto one long ball, but this was another match where he needed to show much more. The effort was there in spots, but the attacking impact was not.

Tristan Muyumba
Spent most of the match overwhelmed in midfield. Columbus controlled the middle too easily, and even when he found a few forward passes or got into attacking spots, he never looked comfortable enough to change the game.

Cooper Sanchez
A rough outing. He did not have his usual aggressiveness, got pulled out of position too often, and never gave Atlanta the midfield bite they needed once Columbus started taking control.

Jay Fortune
Probably Atlanta’s most dangerous player, even though that danger still did not amount to enough. He recovered well on Rossi in the first half and kept looking for shots, but none of those moments really threatened Columbus.

Alexey Miranchuk
Neither good nor bad. Had one clever flick into the box and helped connect a few of Atlanta’s better sequences, but he never took control of the attack or made Columbus defend him for long stretches.

Saba Lobjanidze
Did not have his normal speed or one-on-one threat. He had a few chances to run at defenders or deliver from set pieces, but the sharpness was missing and Atlanta lost one of its usual outlets because of it.

Miguel Almirón
Came on with energy and immediately tried to take charge. He directed players, took the free kick, and played one good long ball to Báez late, but his influence faded rather quickly before it could change the match.

Sérgio Santos
Showed a few promising attacking moments after coming on. He fought for one loose ball into the box and got close to a late cross, but the overall level still did not look strong enough.
