Atlanta's NWSL team finally has a name, a crest, colors, and an identity of its own.
Atlanta City FC

Until today, this has been a future team represented by a temporary name, construction plans, deposits, and promises about 2028. Now supporters finally have something tangible to attach themselves to. Atlanta City FC. A crest. Colors. A Phoenix.
Atlanta’s NWSL team finally feels real.
There was already a 2028 start date, a future home at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a training ground taking shape in Marietta, and a growing front office.
Now there is Atlanta City FC. A shortened ATL CTY branding is already across the club’s new website and social channels.
There is a crest supporters can put on a scarf. There are colors that will eventually cover the stands at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. At the center of the badge is a phoenix, surrounded by a dogwood blossom and roots. An “A” is worked into the phoenix itself.
The club’s colors are Atlanta Red, Georgia Peach, Dogwood White, Platinum, and Black Char.
The waiting for an identity is over, “Atlanta NWSL 2028” is no more.
Atlanta City FC has unveiled its name, crest, and colors Monday, giving the NWSL expansion club its first permanent public identity ahead of its 2028 debut. The shortened ATL CTY branding is already across the club’s new website and social channels, replacing the temporary NWSL Atlanta 2028 identity.
There is a crest supporters can put on a scarf. At the center of the badge is a phoenix, surrounded by a dogwood blossom and roots. An “A” is worked into the phoenix itself. Our supporters are at the heart of everything we do, and their energy and belief will shape the soul of this club. Atlanta City FC says roughly 600 names were considered during the process. Phoenix and Dogwood FC both made the shortlist before the organization settled on Atlanta City FC. The three ideas that continued to surface were the phoenix, the city’s history and roots, and the dogwood. Atlanta is a city that has always forged its own path. Atlanta City FC reflects the energy, diversity and ambition that define this community, and we are proud to build a club that belongs to Atlanta and represents its future on the national stage. Deandra Duggans, Chief Business Officer, Atlanta City FC
The name may be new, but much of the club has already started taking shape. Construction is underway on the club’s Marietta training ground, while Mercedes-Benz Stadium will eventually be modified with a curtain system designed to create a more intimate lower-bowl setting for Atlanta City matches.
Atlanta City FC Training Ground Update
Atlanta’s NWSL training ground is beginning to come into focus, with new details showing how the 34-acre Marietta campus will serve players, staff and potentially the public.
The club also has about 5,000 season-ticket deposits, according to Mauricio Culebro. Season tickets are expected to go on sale in Spring 2027.
There should not be a long wait for the next major announcement. Atlanta City FC expects to name its chief soccer officer in the coming days, with additional front-office hires expected before December. The first players could begin arriving during the next transfer window and spend the 2027 season on loan before Atlanta begins play in 2028.
The first Atlanta City FC kits are still farther away. The IX Sports reports they are currently expected during the fourth quarter of 2027.
For now, though, Atlanta finally has something to rally around.
Atlanta City FC is here.
